Review sounds and words Level 8 Gilead Success with Phonics
Review the sounds from Level 8 of Gilead Success with Phonics – ng, 3 sounds of ch, 2 sounds of ie, 2 sounds of ei, 2 sounds of ew, all, ce/ci/cy, a = /ar/, 2 sounds of g in ge/gi/gy, wa, war, wor, 3 sounds of ed. Plus review of words from Phonic Comics 2/26 – 2/35.
Write all the words from the Phonic Comics on small cards. Check that your child can read all of these words. For any that cause problems, check the sound and the Phonic Comic from the video, then play any matching game with the cards.
Common words using the sounds from Gilead Success with Phonics learned up to and including Level 8 – all, after, ask, asked, bring, call, called, fast, father, looked, new, school, quick, stayed, wanted, what.
It is important to practise these words to increase fluency. But don’t try to teach them as whole words. If your child misreads one of the words, get him or her to sound it out. If necessary, go back to the video where the troublesome sound is taught. There are a lot of suggestions for games to play to practise the words at Level 7_7.
