Phonic Comics 1 – easy books

This set of books gives children an extra opportunity to practise their developing phonic skills.

There is also a set of easy books for Phonic Comics 2.

There are books for both sets that have common non-phonic words that need to be learned as sight words as well as some common phonically regular words that are not taught until later in Phonic Comics 2. It is best not to use these sets until children are well through Phonic Comics 2 so that they have learned the sounds before they meet them in the books.

E.g. 1/15 The camp – This was a good camp. But the wind came and the tent went.

“a_e” is taught in Phonic Comics 2/1, “oo” in 2/18, “th” in 2/21, (wa in 2/34)

“was” and “the” are taught in More Sight Words and can be taught and/or reinforced as you come across them.
