Textured Letters
Textured Letters uses a multisensory approach. With a Textured Letters book, a young child can feel the directions to write a letter.
When you have a video playing, click on the bottom right hand corner of it to watch it in full screen mode.. ……………………………………………….. If the video won’t play (or if you can’t see that there is supposed to be a video at all): Click here |
- Use the templates to cut out lowercase letters from red felt or sandpaper. Glue each letter onto a sheet of A4 card. Glue a small shape onto the letter to show the starting point. Mark the direction to go.
- Trace the letter with your finger with your child. Later he or she can use it as a reference to check how to write a letter.
- Cut out pictures that start with each letter of the alphabet and glue these around the letter. Only use the most common sound of each letter. E.g. “cat” not “cheese” or “city”, “apple” not “apron” or “army”.
- Full instructions and templates are given. Print the memory rhyme from Alphabet Album and put each one on the page facing the corresponding letter. Make up a book with these.
- An older child can use the Textured Letters book as a reference to check the correct starting points directions when writing.
