Home-schooling during lockdown

by Jeanne on 31 July 2021

Is home-schooling during lockdown a source of great stress for parents, or an opportunity to help our children improve areas in which they have been struggling?

Sometimes it depends on how schools organise their support. Do they give students tasks to complete in their own time, with help available? Or do students have to be online for extended periods of time, perhaps hours a day?

Lockdown has proved to be a time when parents have been able to help their children who have been struggling with reading, spelling or maths. But what if parents feel inadequate, don’t have the resources or don’t know the best way to go? Teachers have been struggling to find suitable resources too.

I have spent the past 35 years developing resources to help, as if I were there tutoring the children, or older students for that matter. They are designed to tackle the most common areas of difficulty, explain the key concepts clearly, and never be boring.

Interactive computer programs let parents or teachers start children off, then leave them to practise. Interesting video clips increase vocabulary.

Because everything is taught sequentially, children are never required to guess (one of the biggest causes of reading failure for children experiencing difficulty).

“Sight words” (the other most common cause of reading difficulties) are kept to an absolute minimum.

Check out the heaps of free resources and demo videos.

Plus all of my programs are currently available for $40AUD (Three programs in one) at the shop. Three programs on one USB flash drive for PC only. Windows XP or later. This is a special price to help families currently struggling with lockdown, home-schooling and/or recovery due to the pandemic. 35 years of work, thousands of dollars value, for beginners to adults, to prevent or help with difficulties. Computer programs plus books, games and activities to print.  Resources for home-schooling during lockdown.
