Spelling Tutor

Spelling Tutor is suitable for older high school students to adults. It allows them to be independent in improving their reading and spelling skills.

  • Long words are split into syllables, a bank of useful knowledge about the meaning of words and parts of words is built up.
  • Appropriate vocabulary for senior students is used.
  • Information about syllables is given.
  • Confusing words are listed with sentences to illustrate the meaning of each word.
  • There are many hints and spelling rules, most followed by a quiz.
  • A diary/dictionary can be printed for students to add their own words.
  • There are also two books on punctuation, one simpler than the other.
  • At the end there are several tests. Students write down the words then check/analyse their answers. There are links to information about most errors that students are likely to make.
